Engine

The 149-cubic-inch (2.4L) inline six-cylinder engine delivers 100 brake horsepower at 4400 rpm and 145 lbs/ft of torque at 2000 rpm. It featured a 3.25-inch cylinder bore, 3.00-inch piston stroke, and a high 8.8:1 compression ratio for optimal performance and efficiency.

Engine Features

The overhead valve (OHV) inline engine features an oversquare design for higher RPM capabilities, modified wedge combustion chambers for better flame travel efficiency, and a seven-bearing crankshaft for stability. It also offers low maintenance thanks to hydraulic valve lifters.

Fuel System

The vehicle was equipped with a Bendix-Stromberg single-barrel down-draft carburetor paired with an AC fluid-treated replaceable paper element air cleaner and silencer, drawing from a fuel tank with a capacity of approximately 52 litres.

Transmission and Top Speed

Equipped with a three-speed manual transmission featuring synchromesh on the top two ratios and durable carburised, shot-peened gears. This vehicle could reach 97km/h in 13.1 seconds and complete a standing quarter mile (400 metres) in 19.3 seconds, with maximum speeds of 64km/h in first, 111km/h in second, and 157km/h in third gear.

Brakes and Steering

This vehicle features a braking system consisting of four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes with a duo-servo design and reverse self-adjusting capabilities, providing a total effective lining area of 123.86 square inches. For handling, it utilises a recirculating ball steering mechanism with a 16.8:1 ratio, allowing for a turning circle of 11.13 metres.

Suspension

The vehicle had an independent front suspension with short and long arms, coil springs, and a stabiliser bar, while the rear used semi-elliptic springs with a four-leaf design. Direct-acting shock absorbers were included at both the front and rear to ensure ride quality and control.

Wheels and Tyres

The vehicle was equipped with demountable disc wheels featuring 13-inch by 4.5-inch steel safety rims with a J-type flange profile, fitted with 6.40 x 13 4-ply tubeless tyres.

Electrical System

The electrical system included a 12-volt, 9-plate battery with a 44 amp-hour capacity and a 20-hour rating of 35 amps, supported by an alternator. Ignition was controlled by a coil and distributor assembly with centrifugal and vacuum-type advance controls for optimised engine timing.
